Kazbegi and the Georgian Military Highway
Kazbegi and the Military Highway is one of the most popular travel destinations. Administratively, it is included in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region, which is divided into 4 municipalities: Mtskheta, Dusheti, Tianeti, Kazbeg. The road connecting Georgia with the Russian Federation from Tbilisi to the Caucasus passes through beautiful villages and mountains. It got its name at the beginning of the twentieth century when the Russian army first entered Georgia in this way. The name is also related to that historical fact and has survived to this day.
The mountainous terrain, valleys and historical monuments characteristic of the Caucasus region are attractive to nature lovers. Tourism infrastructure is also developed. There are many hotels and restaurants. Gudauri ski resort is located in this region, which actively hosts tourists in all four seasons of the year.
