Mtskheta is an ancient historical city and the administrative center of the Mtsketa-Mtianeti region. Before the founding of Tbilisi, the capital city was located here. From here Christianity began to spread in Georgia during the life of St. Nino. The restoration of the city is based on historical records and resembles old architecture. Historical monuments of the city are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Located close to Tbilisi, this museum-city is the most popular place in Eastern Georgia for travelers and locals. 2-3 hours is enough to see, so this location is often included in the route when traveling in different directions.
