Your tour will begin at 9:30 AM from the Metekhi Church in old Tbilisi, where your guide will meet you near the gate of Metekhi and lead you to your pickup location. The first places you will visit are the Ananuri Fortress and Zhinvali Lake(water reservoir ). This fortress, which dates back to the feudal era, served for a long time as the main stronghold for the rulers of this land. It contains military and religious monuments. Here you will also discover the Zhinvali Water Reservoir which adds to the spiritual beauty of this area.
After visiting these two places before lunch, you will enjoy a short stop near the black and white rivers of Aragvi. In particularly good weather their colors and contours are pronounced and the blending process is particularly pleasing for watching. During your lunch break in Pasanauri, you will enjoy a masterclass of making mountain “Khinkali”. It is made in almost every region of Georgia, but it is known that the most delicious Khinkali is made in the mountains. Following lunch, you will make a stop near the “Arch of People’s Friendship” in Gudauri.
Friendship Monument is a favorite place of tourists in Gudauri. Built in 1983 during the Soviet era, it was dedicated to the friendship between Russia and Georgia. From the terrace where the memorial stands you can take in a panorama of 180 degrees, which provides a fantastic view of the mountains. The highest point in the route will be 2,395 meters above sea level, at which point you will cross the Cross Pass.
Following this, you will get to Stepantsminda, which is the administrative center of the region. Here you will discover the Trinity Church, which stands before the background of Kazbek Mountain. Dating back to the 14th century, this church, which stands on a hill, has been interpreted as a symbol of Orthodoxy. This is the last stop of the tour, after which you will be transported safely back to Tbilisi.
